Observation Narrative
Composition of overstory, tapered bases of tree boles, and near absence of subcanopy and shrub strata suggest seasonal flooding, but the herb layer, soil profile, and absence of water marks on trees provide no evidence of recent inundation. Most downed boles are several years old, but scattered treefall occurred during recent high winds.
